This year’s theme, “Pioneering the Futature: Minds that Innovate, Hearts that Serve,” he said, reflects the institution’s mission of producing graduates who combine intellectual curiosity with compassion and service.
“We need to nurture hearts that serve with compassion and empathy,” he told the graduates. “I implore you to be the kind of people who go out and serve your fellow citizens faithfully.”
He encouraged the students to embrace innovation and become solution-oriented leaders capable of uplifting communities, adding that the country’s progress depends on graduates who are “driven by intellect and anchored by values.”
Dr. Munga underscored the urgent need for enhanced investment in Kenya’s education sector, emphasizing that strong collaboration between universities, government and industry is essential for developing globally competitive talent.
“As a country, we must equip our young people with the right skills if we want them to compete on the world stage,” he noted, calling for more support toward research, skills development and technology-driven training.
In inspiring graduates to pursue their aspirations boldly, Dr. Munga quoted Eleanor Roosevelt, reminding them that “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” He further echoed Ralph Waldo Emerson’s timeless wisdom: “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
Munga Went ahead and urged the graduates to carry forward Pioneer International University’s motto “Powered by Intellect, Driven by Values”—as they transition into their next phase of life and service.
The Chancellor extended heartfelt gratitude to parents, guardians, lecturers and the university management led by the Vice Chancellor, acknowledging their sacrifices and dedication to the students’ success.
In closing, Dr. Munga assured the gathering of the university’s unwavering commitment to providing world-class education and research.
“As you step into the future, remember that the world has many opportunities waiting to be explored. Go out there and create new paths for yourselves and for generations to come,” Munga concluded.
