Court Convicts Six in Robberies Linked to Killing of Kabete MP George Muchai
A Nairobi court has convicted six people in connection with a string of violent robberies carried out hours before the fatal shooting of former Kabete MP George Muchai and his aides in 2015.
The judgment, delivered at the Milimani Law Courts under Section 215 of the Criminal Procedure Code, concluded a case that has been in court for more than a decade after the suspects were first arraigned in 2015.

They faced several charges including robbery with violence and unlawful possession of stolen property, with prosecutors alleging that they were behind a series of violent attacks targeting motorists and pedestrians in Nairobi’s Central Business District on the night preceding the killing of the legislator.
In its findings, the court ruled:
“The first, second, third and fourth accused persons are each guilty of counts numbers 1, 2 and 3 and each of the said first, second, third and fourth accused persons is convicted of each of the said first, second and third counts.”
The court presided over by Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina further held that some of the accused persons were also culpable on additional counts linked to the robberies.
“The first and the sixth accused persons are guilty of count numbers 4 and 5 and each of the said first and sixth accused persons is convicted of the said counts 4 and 5, while the second accused is guilty of counts numbers 6 and 7 and the fifth accused is guilty of count number 8.”
However, three of the accused persons were acquitted of the first three counts after the court found that the prosecution had not sufficiently linked them to those particular offences.
The robberies occurred hours before the fatal shooting of Muchai and his aides at the Kenyatta Avenue–Uhuru Highway roundabout in February 2015, an incident that shocked the country and triggered a high-profile investigation.
The six convicted suspects are expected to return to court for sentencing on March 18, 2026.
