Two Suspects Remanded Over Alleged Sh1.5 Million Milk Fraud
Two men accused of obtaining goods by false pretences will remain in custody for three working days as detectives continue investigations into an alleged milk supply fraud involving Sh1.5 million.
Abdi Yunis Abdullahi and Abdullahi Abdi Ibrahim were presented before the Milimani Law Courts, where investigators sought more time to conclude inquiries into claims that they failed to pay for a large consignment of milk supplied earlier this year.
The court heard that the complaint was filed by Anzal Hussein Maalim, who alleges that between April 2 and April 7, 2026, he was instructed to supply 1,100 cartons of packed milk.

Investigators told the court that the delivery was made in Westlands using a lorry, after which the goods were allegedly transferred to another vehicle in the presence of the suspects.
Police further alleged that after receiving the consignment, the suspects failed to pay Sh1,518,000 and later became unreachable, prompting their arrest on May 5 in Eastleigh following information from members of the public.
Opposing their release, the prosecution told the court that the suspects’ conduct during the transaction and their alleged disappearance raised fears they might abscond if granted bail.
“The suspects’ conduct while dealing with the complainant and their alleged disappearance after the incident demonstrated a likelihood of absconding if released on bail,” the prosecution submitted.
State counsel urged the court to have the suspects remanded at Kamukunji Police Station to allow detectives more time to complete investigations.
“We urge the court to remand the suspects at Kamukunji Police Station to allow investigators to complete their inquiries,” the investigating officer said.
The suspects denied the allegations, insisting they are Kenyan citizens with known places of residence. Appearing before the Milimani Law Courts, they presented their national identity cards and pleaded with the court to release them on bail pending investigations.
The defence also told the court that one of the suspects suffers from breathing complications while the other is diabetic, urging the court to consider their medical conditions.
Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Caroline Nyaguthii ordered that the two remain in custody for three working days as investigations continue.
The case will be mentioned on May 13, 2026, for further directions.
