The court ordered that the sentences run concurrently, meaning Chelogoi will serve a total of 3 years in prison.
In her ruling, Magistrate Alego sentenced him to two years on the first count, two years on the second count, three years on the third, fourth and fifth counts consecutively, and one year on the sixth count.
"The sentences will run concurrently. The accused has a right to appeal within 14 days from today," magistrate Alego ruled.
According to court documents, Chelogoi faced charges including forgery, uttering false documents, conspiracy to defraud and forcible detainer in connection with the property claimed by businessmen Ashok Rupshi Shah and Hitenkumar Amritlal Raja.
The prosecution told the court that between May 2020 and June 2021, Chelogoi and his co-accused, former Assistant Deputy Director of Lands Administration Andrew Aseri Kirungu, conspired to defraud the businessmen by allegedly facilitating the registration of the disputed property in Chelogoi's name.

In her judgment, Magistrate Alego found that documents presented to support Chelogoi's ownership of the land had been forged, including the signature and stamp impressions attributed to a land registrar.
"The signature and stamp impressions were outright forgery," Magistrate Alego ruled.
The magistrate also directed the Chief Land Registrar to cancel the parallel title deeds and registration details issued in respect of the disputed property.
However, the court acquitted Kirungu, ruling that the prosecution had failed to establish his criminal culpability, citing insufficient evidence linking him to the offences.
The prosecution had called 19 witnesses, including land registrars, officials from the State Department for Lands, surveyors and forensic document examiners, to support its case and demonstrate how the disputed title was allegedly obtained.
Following his conviction, Chelogoi had been remanded in custody pending mitigation and sentencing on November 2,2026.
He has 14 days from the date of sentencing to appeal against the conviction and sentence.
